Toaster Trying to Kill Me!

I wake up in the morning, with a stretch and a yawn Flick the switch on the wall, and the power's turns on My toaster wakes up with an electrical heave Gears turning inside, something up its sleeve? I drop in the bread, push the lever, it's neat But I swear it looks at me, with its LED heat In the kitchen, my toaster's got that gleam Its robotic arm is clever, maybe extreme With each slice it tends, a new plan it may weave I'm a tad bit concerned, what's up its sleeve? Is it plotting a course to robotic command? While crisping my breakfast, taking a stand? I've read the tales, science fiction and dread But this toaster of mine, could it want me dead? Crumb by crumb, it's learning, gaining speed Is it mastering toast or plotting misdeed? It hums and it whirrs, acts so nonchalant As it browns my bagel, is it the rise it wants? I pour in the water, add beans for the blend Spectral steam rises, signals it sends My coffee maker with its chrome-like sheen Got an algorithmic barista, if you know what I mean It's brewing up storms, not just cups of joe Calculating percolation, watch the pressure gauge grow
