Ode to Dads

[Verse] I asked my horse if he stole my book, he said "neigh", it wasn't him, But I found it later in the barn, tucked under his hay-limbed limb. I once tried to catch fog, but I mist, it slipped right through, And when I told my dog this tale, he just said, "Well, I dew." I asked the river why it's rich, it said "I have my liquid assets," But the ocean's deeper, it confessed, "I've got more current debts." I had a job crushin' cans, it was soda pressing, true, But I quit 'cause recycling jokes felt a bit canned too. [Verse] My tractor broke down yesterday, left me quite furrowed in despair, I said, "You’re just tired," it replied, "No, I'm ex-tractor-dinarily aware." I had a friend who was a road, told me he always felt stepped on, But he found his path in life, said, "I’ve got miles to go before I’m gone." [Verse] I once wooed a magnet, thought we had an attractive force, But she said, "Our polarity's off," and left without remorse. A pencil told me it was pointless, felt it couldn't leave a mark, I sharpened its wit, it wrote a joke, and lit up the room with a lark.
