Call for Action

This is a call for action. This is a call for you to act. And when I say “you” I don’t mean the being that passively responds to stimuli. I don’t mean the blob of existence that was born with certain propensities and was subsequently molded by environmental and social stimuli. I don’t mean the “you” that makes decisions as if reading from universal scripts written long ago by authors unknown and unrespected, or the “you” that is made angry by another's action, or the “you” that is limited by circumstance. I’m talking about YOU. The being that is endowed with the ability to choose. Because between every stimuli and response there is a gap. You can allow that gap to go unutilized, to let it unknowingly be filled by the easiest and most common decisions, and to allow your response to be the product of outside stimuli and outside decisions.Or YOU can act. YOU can use that gap. YOU can fill it with your own, independent thoughts, resulting in responses that break cycles. Responses that mold yourself, that write your own future scripts, and empower YOU to act in bigger and more proactive ways. Ways that deny others the ability to make YOU angry. Ways that create new options when the world seemed to limit you. Ways that allow “you” to be more YOU. This is a call for action. This is a call for YOU to act.
