Machines in the Meadow

Verse 1: In the heart of the valley, where the green grass grows, Where the river bends and the gentle wind blows, There used to be laughter and the sound of work songs, But now there's a silence, something's gone wrong. The machines came rolling, with their steel and their steam, Took over the work, like a bad dream.
