In Webster's Grove Whispers unseen Lost in the labyrinth the ordinary routine Miriam's shutting down Lights out for the night A figure appeared Shadowing the light In her heart a flutter A fear taking hold Her husband's gone Two weeks untold Is it his footsteps Echo in her head? Or just a phantom playing tricks instead? The Shadow in the doorway Mysterious and unknown Miriam's mind wandering Thoughts all overblown Every creak of the floor Causing her to stare Once a loving home Now filled with despair Miriam threw open the door A child stood, nothing more tiny hand raised to fall eyes a black frozen gleam "May I come in" a small voice calls Miriam crumbled, hollow eyes fear coursed ice down her spine tiny voice "please I'm all alone" Fear that little death, door slammed knock knock kno-knock Miriam voiced, "I can't" Please I'm all alone, all alone" The Shadow in the doorway Mysterious and unknown Miriam's mind wandering Thoughts all overblown Every creak of the floor Causing her to stare Once a loving home Now filled with despair The Shadow in the Doorway Miriam held the door Trembling with fear Pounding of tiny fists Filling her ears A child's wail But she knew deep inside It was not alright No child stood at her doorstep That much was clear A dark presence Filling her with fear Hollowed eyed stare A darkened soul A black clad monster In a child's frame it seemed The fight in her She won't ignore Back to the door Fear rising No more Harry's voice Whisper in her ear "You're not alone" now the fear's not there Fires raised She faces the door Unafraid She's ready for more "Go away!" she shouts So strong She'll win this fight All along A shriveled voice Weak and small "I'm all alone" "Not tonight" She won the fight At Dawns Light I'm not Alone [Verse] Miriam was Lost and afraid In the darkness A shadow conveyed But in the light It disappeared mysteries to be cleared [Verse] Not alone She thought she'd be But a presence It set her free Vanished into thin air Without a trace an unanswered embrace Shadow at the door A Shadow no more Quiet whisper You're not alone
