Lyrics

[Verse 1] My droning eyes, buzzed and tapped the kitchen window Watching over my son running free on the back lawn. My peeler blade chanted across a carrot to a cusp. Its shavings scraped like sparks-spatting the sink. [Chorus] You know, I can’t rewrite my exact childhood. Not anymore - not ever. I can’t rollback the same clouds from buried skies. just as one can’t stitch back the same Leaves from the school yard trees. A memory can only go as far as a tear. [Verse2] My childhood evolved. into a new adaptable species. Like the Secret Goldfish. I don’t need to say everything -I don’t need to show you everything. [Chorus] [Verse 3] Remember that box from the Little prince? You know that one with Three round airholes? All that you could imagine beats in that box. What I will draw out are the husks, the cicada shells removed from screaming trees. [Chorus] [Verse 4] Inside these amber mouldings, Nuns were built from bad old habits... Blood burned like tree sap through my carrot hair trickled down my scalp like burning tree sap that tapped onto. My pee-drenched trunk. An outstretched man with a crown of thorns Was pinned to the cold wall like a butterfly display. I remember him Looking away towards the ceiling. What the hell was he looking at? Was he a past student? Was he looking for a way out? Doesn’t he want to look at me? Was he – arch! My youngest one is crying! He lay on the grass in tears, holding his foot. We are sitting together against a nearby tree. Like the Pieta. I remove the bindis from his sole. Daddy, what’s that! Above us, a cicada clippered. But then a cicada caught our attention. Dancing, chirping. Head-butting the bark. That’s a cicada, son - I think it’s trying to knock the tree down. We started to laugh. I should finish dinner- You’ll be okay now? Yes dad, It’s better now. I will let you go…keep playing son.. I peeled the steam off the kitchen window. peered back through the box kitchen window. son My son Remained against the tree looking up That’s what I prefer to believe the man against the other tree was looking at Now I am starting to like The thought of why that other man looked up against the tree Maybe that was what the man was looking at.
