I am dawn in the sunset And bluebird in the vultures' skeletal embrace Over the deserts of worlds spread on worlds Where my light is all And all shadow observed is the mind of my deep-water face I am a spell of fleeting crow-song Made love through the morning of college And woken in old boots in the body of some other boy All shadow observed in the lines of his face In the tough city lights with their calm female grace there are voices opening wings you find in an unexpected place your heart, it flutters against the bars of its cage where were you when you knew at once some beauty but had no words to keep it it is raining oh god it is raining it is raining oh god it does not stop
