Lady liberty Why do you stare at me Telling me to fight for my human rights As I walk down 5th avenue I reminisce about the best days too And long ago When my ancestors came On that glorious day When Ellis Island was the place to go And Oh my great love for Your beautiful skyline And cities that hide behind your beauty And glare below At the taxi cabs Rushing around People running all through the town And wandering blocks away Statue of liberty Lady what do you say Why don’t we dance on Broadway Maybe then you can take me away To fight for my rights My human rights What did I miss this whole time Getting caught up in marquee lights When the sun goes down We have brilliant nights And the clanking of glasses In the restaurants out there With a city that never sleeps And a city that still cares About art and love and living fast A life so wonderful with lots of sounds And all around Rushing here and there Statute of liberty Lady liberty I think you really care
