**Verse 1** In the first year of Cyrus’ reign, A prophecy was fulfilled again, The Lord stirred his spirit with might, To bring His people to the light. **Chorus** Hallelujah, for the Lord has spoken, Through Cyrus’ decree, our chains are broken, Return to Jerusalem, build His house, The Lord’s command, we do espouse. **Verse 2** “Go up to Judea, build His shrine, With gold and silver, your hearts align, The vessels of the Lord reclaimed, To Jerusalem, His name proclaimed.” **Chorus** Hallelujah, for the Lord has spoken, Through Cyrus’ decree, our chains are broken, Return to Jerusalem, build His house, The Lord’s command, we do espouse. **Bridge** From Babylon, to sacred ground, The exiles return, their hearts unbound, With gifts and offerings, they prepare, A holy temple, built with care. **Verse 3** Yet opposition soon arose, The enemies, their bitterness shows, But God’s decree will not be swayed, His promises shall not be delayed. **Chorus** Hallelujah, for the Lord has spoken, Through Cyrus’ decree, our chains are broken, Return to Jerusalem, build His house, The Lord’s command, we do espouse. **Outro** King Cyrus’ faith, a beacon bright, Guides our way in the darkest night, With hearts and hands, we heed the call, To build the house, to praise Him all.
