Embrace of the Darkness

As dusk slowly transitions to dawn, Abruptly arrives the unwanted morn. My curtains desperately blocking out the sun For the last thing I want is to get burned. Being in the dark for way too long Has engraved, in my mind, the fear of light; So strong. Reluctantly, one by one, I open each curtain Only for a glare of light to spurt in. I shut the curtains, and then my eyes, Trying to calm myself down with gasps and sighs. Of solace, darkness is my only source; Protected from the ruthless blaze; too fierce For my frail being to endure; As it sets ablaze my poor soul. In the sympathetic gloom, I cradle myself back and forth in the corner of my room. Burying my face deep in my knees, I finally feel like I’m at ease. I do nothing but sit there, letting the blackness engulf me. I sit there until murk is all I can see. Melting into the snug embrace of the shadows, Wanting to stay there until my corpse would decompose.
