wellaways (a poem from a long time ago)

[anti-folk shrill, bad singer] when you were born, there was a star in your eye which was borrowed anyway only, I think it knew what it was doing when it picked you It sure explains why sometimes when I'm walking alone at night I stand up a little straighter, as if I have someone to impress and I'm sure you remember that time I got drunk and did the funky chicken out behind my old school, high and in love with the twinkling stars And anyway, when I was born, I was six hundred pounds five ounces and the doctors said I was filled completely up with words only, I knew they weren't mine so, I figured I ought to return them Which is what this is, because you're the only one who didn't laugh every time I danced alone, in the night sky
