Pretty perfect

Growing up I never had much Mama had to darn the socks And Our clothes were often More patches than anything else But we had enough and That was more than enough for me I always dreamed I’d build my Own house, for my future family I’d marry that girl from high school Who has always held my heart We’d have a kid or two, Hell maybe even a dog But forget the fence I’d rather Have the view That’s the life I’ve always Dreamed would be Grandkids on my lake house dock A cold beer in my hand My wife smiling at me As beautiful as the day She met me That sounds pretty perfect to me I went to war, I don’t Talk about it much Still haunts me to this day I’ll never be quite the same But I buckled down and worked To provide for my family We worked hard my Wife and I We had a little boy and baby girl As well as a few dogs along the way We didn’t have much, but We had enough and That was plenty for me That’s the life I’ve always Dreamed would be Grandkids on my lake house dock A cold beer in my hand My wife smiling at me As beautiful as the day She met me That sounds pretty perfect to me Both my kids have moved out Wasn’t sure my boy would even Make it to eighteen as Stubborn and reckless as me My baby girl all grown up And starting her own family, But still just as stubborn as me I still work on my hands and knees Don’t quite know what I’ll do when It’s time to leave Maybe I’d give my wife that Kitchen she’s been dying for And who knows maybe someday When we’re old and grey I’ll Finally do somethin about Our house on the shore That’s the life I’ve always Dreamed would be Grandkids on my lake house dock A cold beer in my hand My wife smiling at me As beautiful as the day She met me That sounds pretty perfect to me My dreams came true Might have taken a wrong turn a Time or two, might even have some regrets but overall my Dreams came true I built my house I married my girl We had some kids And now we get to be grandparents too It all seems pretty perfect to me
