Joy division iconic artwork on t-shirts

[ intro instrumental ] I'm on the B subway, it's evening. The buzz of the neon lights seems to pierce my eardrums like a pin. The cold light refracts on the white walls and irritates my eyes, already red from the long day. I curl up on the blue seat and squint , trying to limit inputs to a minimum. My attempt fails as soon as the doors open with the characteristic whistle, at Termini station: a group of boys in full puberty, bursts into the carriage. In the squadron of noise, one detail immediately catches my attention. A girl, with the tips of her hair dyed purple, wears a t-shirt cut off at the height of her navel. On it stands out the iconic artwork of the cover of Unknown Pleasures, by Joy Division : those wavy white lines that stand out against the black. Symbolic images of the genre, willingly or not, become collective property. That icon has become material shaped in a thousand forms, from fashion, to tattoos, to street art, to more or less ironic mash-ups on social media. If these images continue to speak, it is because through them pulsates a mystery that does not exhaust itself, indeed it grows with the passing of time; it is because that of Joy Division, is music that comes from the depths, from the abyss.
