Making footprints in the dark Seeking horizons never found. Climbing mountains that never crumble. Wrapped up warm in the Autumn winds. Making footprints in the dark. Turning corners, chasing stars It’s getting scary after dark. Full moons descend as morning dew glistens Making footprints in the dark. Drawing handprints in the sand Crunching conkers along the path Kicking up leaves scattered across the grass. Making footprints in the dark. Bypassing crowds in the streets Nodding to strangers who we meet Avoiding scuffles in the park It’s getting dangerous in the dark. Talking of love that you don’t understand. Of loneliness of being a man. Drawing handprints on the sand. Painting footsteps on your hand Talking of love you don’t understand I am lonely. It is I.
