Lyrics

In the shadowed forest where the moon’s light bleeds, A fox roams silent, cloaked in night’s thick shroud. His eyes, twin embers, pierce the whispering reeds, A solitary prince, both fierce and proud. He stalks through bramble, each step a silent vow, His hunger drives him, primal, ancient, cold. Yet within his heart, beneath his furrowed brow, A yearning stirs that neither young nor old. He sights a rabbit, soft as dawn's first breath, Its fur a silver whisper in the dark. With muscles coiled, the fox prepares for death, A hunter’s instinct, an arrow to its mark. But fate, a cunning trickster, weaves a twist, For as he leaps, a root ensnares his flight. He tumbles, falls, and in the tangled mist, He meets the rabbit, cowering in fright. The fox, now humbled, looks into those eyes, Sees not a meal, but something more profound. A mirror of his loneliness, his cries, Reflected in that gaze so tightly bound. The rabbit trembles, caught in time’s cruel snare, Yet mercy blooms where once there was only stone. The fox steps back, releases tension’s snare, For in this bond, a kinship they have grown. Days turn to weeks, and in the forest deep, A friendship blossoms, delicate and rare. They share their tales, their secrets in the keep Of night’s embrace, beneath the starry glare. The fox, once feared, now finds his solace there, In simple joys and laughter’s gentle sound. No longer does he roam the woods in despair, For in the rabbit’s company, he’s found. Yet still, the world turns, harsh and unforgiving, The laws of nature, brutal in their hold. A fox and rabbit’s bond, though true and living, Is fragile as a tale once dearly told. They dance on knife-edge, predator and prey, In twilight’s glow, where boundaries blur and fade. Their friendship stands, a beacon in the gray, A testament to choices they have made. For in the forest, dark and wild and free, A fox and rabbit dream beneath the moon. Their story whispers through the ancient trees, A song of harmony, of loss, and boon. Thus in the end, they walk both paths as one, The hunter’s instinct softened by the heart. Their tale a woven web that’s never done, A bond of love that never shall depart.
